The four domains and their weights
PK0-005 is organized into four domains:
- Project Management Concepts — 33%. The largest domain: project characteristics, methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid), roles, resources, risk, and issue management.
- Project Life Cycle Phases — 30%. Initiating, planning, executing, and closing — the phase-by-phase work of running a project.
- Tools and Documentation — 19%. Gantt charts, burndown charts, PERT, issue and change logs, risk registers, dashboards, and the artifacts that keep projects on track.
- Basics of IT and Governance — 18%. IT concepts, change control, information security, compliance and privacy, and ESG considerations.

Do you need prerequisites?
No certification is required to register. CompTIA recommends 6–12 months of hands-on experience managing projects in a tech environment. It's designed to be accessible to both newer and experienced project professionals — you don't need the years of documented project hours that some other project management certifications demand.
Agile, Waterfall, or both?
