Renewal options: why the top of the stack is different

For lower certifications, the easy shortcut is "pass a higher CompTIA certification and it renews automatically." SecurityX sits at the top of the security stack, so there's no higher CompTIA security certification to stack above it. That leaves two main routes:

1. Earn 75 CEUs through qualifying activities over your three-year cycle.
2. Retake the most current version of the exam (currently CAS-005). Passing the latest release of your own certification renews it — a valid option if you'd rather re-examine than accumulate CEUs.

There's a valuable flip side, though: because SecurityX is at the top, renewing it automatically renews every qualifying CompTIA certification beneath it — Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, Network+, and A+. If you hold several CompTIA certifications, CompTIA encourages you to do continuing education at your highest level held, and meeting the SecurityX requirement renews the whole stack in one go.
