An 8-Week Study Plan for CompTIA Cloud+ (CV0-004)
Cloud+ rewards a blend of solid architecture knowledge and real hands-on practice — so this plan spreads the work across eight weeks, weights each domain by exam importance, and builds in lab time from the start. Eight to twelve weeks is a common target for candidates with some cloud or systems experience; adjust the pace to your background.
The non-negotiable rule: get hands-on in a real cloud environment. Cloud+ includes performance-based questions and detailed scenarios, so time spent provisioning, securing, and troubleshooting real resources is what turns knowledge into a pass.

Set up a cloud lab
Before week one, arrange hands-on access. The major providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) offer free tiers that let you provision compute, storage, and networking, configure security, and practice deployments — exactly the skills Cloud+ tests. Because Cloud+ is vendor-neutral, working across two providers helps you see the common concepts beneath the different interfaces.
Weeks 1–2 — Cloud Architecture (23%)
Start with the biggest domain. Service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS), deployment models (public, private, hybrid, multi-cloud), service availability (regions, availability zones, bursting, edge), storage and networking, high availability and scaling, disaster recovery design, cost considerations, and databases. Two weeks reflects both the weight and the foundational nature of this material.
Week 3 — Deployment (19%)
Provisioning and configuring compute, storage, and networking; migrating workloads and data; and integrating cloud solutions. Do this hands-on — provision resources and run a small migration in your lab.
Week 4 — Security (19%)
Identity and access management, data security and encryption, network security, compliance, and configuring security controls. Configure these in your cloud lab rather than just reading — cloud security is practical.
Week 5 — Operations (17%)
Monitoring and logging, performance and cost optimization, capacity management, and backup and restore. Practice setting up monitoring and interpreting what it tells you.
Week 6 — DevOps Fundamentals (10%) and Troubleshooting (12%)
The newest content plus the cross-cutting domain. For DevOps: infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation), CI/CD concepts, automation, and version control — write a small IaC template and understand a pipeline. For troubleshooting: practice diagnosing deployment, security, networking, and performance issues. Both reward hands-on work.
Weeks 7–8 — Review, PBQs, and mocks
Stop learning new material and prove readiness. Take full-length, timed practice exams including PBQs, review every miss, and drill weak domains. Keep a cloud console open to re-do anything you got wrong. When you're consistently clearing your target, book the exam.
A readiness benchmark
Because the passing score is scaled (750 on 100–900), don't chase a raw percentage. Aim to consistently score around 85% or higher on realistic, full-length practice tests before you book — that gives you a comfortable margin.
